Anise seed, green

Anise seed, green

A warm sweet liquorice flavour. In India, Iran, and Indonesia little distinction is made between anise and fennel. Anise has traditionally be used in cakes, breads, biscuits and sweet fruit dishes of European cuisines. Good with fish and shellfish it enhances soups, stews and tomato-based sauces. Italians loved anise with pork. South East Asian and Chinese cooking uses Star Anise is place of Anise seed.
