Turkish Baharat

Turkish Baharat

Baharat is used widely across North Africa, and the Middle East. Across the region there are different permutations of this blend, but it is essentially a very popular all purpose flavour enhancer. Our blend is based on a Turkish recipe and hence contains mint. It is perfect for use as a rub for meat, fish, and poultry, especially delicious for making kofte.

Sprinkle a little baharat into tomato soup or added to boiled rice for a simple subtle change to everyday eating. Next time you make ratatouille add baharat in place of the herbs for subtly different taste. Or try blending olive oil and baharat together then rub over sliced aubergine and baking for 20/30mins in a hot oven. Serve with toasted pine nuts and a dollop of hummus and/or Greek yogurt.

Blends contains: cumin, coriander, cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, paprika, nutmeg, mint.

As of 1st January 2017 Cardamome and Compagnie has stopped trading. It has been a pleasure and we are very grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us over the years. Sadly our endeavour comes to an end. Our best wishing and happy cooking.
