Sumac

Sumac

Tart, sourness, and vivid purple, a popular lemon substitute in Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking. Especially popular in Turkish and Lebanese cuisine, rubbed on meat before grilling, a flavouring for kebabs and popular sprinkled directly on salads and rice dishes. It is a major souring agent, used where other regions would employ lemon, tamarind or vinegar.

As of 1st January 2017 Cardamome and Compagnie has stopped trading. It has been a pleasure and we are very grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us over the years. Sadly our endeavour comes to an end. Our best wishing and happy cooking.
