This recipe is originally from Nigella Lawson’s Christmas cookbook. We have included it because it is a wonderful end to a festive meal, incredible easy, fast and luscious.

Preheat a grill or oven to it highest setting.
Quarter the figs, taking care not to cut all the way through to the bottom, so that they open like flowers. Sit them in a heatproof dish into which they fit snugly.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan, then add the cinnamon, sugar and flower water. Stir to combine and pour into the figs.
Put under the hot grill or bake in the oven for a few minutes and then serve the figs with a generous dollop of mascarpone drizzled over with some of the dark syrup from the figs, then sprinkle over some shards of pistachio.
